The Future of RPG's and Video Games by Tony James The Discussion:
I wonder what the Diablo series would be like if it was more like Skyrim and was on more platforms than just PC?
That’s something I’d pay to play….Seriously, If you think about it then it actually has potential too. Skyrim set the benchmark for RPG’s when it was released (not to long ago) and even though it’s flawed it’s still a great example of how more games should be made. Why? It’s because the combat style, graphic content and general atmosphere that matched the story, something developers should consider more when making games in the future. As well as that, games like Diablo don’t really match up to what we know technology can do, something to also consider in making a game, again referring back to Skyrim which went to mere limits to be what it is today. Sure the cut scenes in Diablo are detailed but why not carry that detail through to the gameplay, I’ve noticed so many games that drop in graphics like this, something that needs to change.
We need to utilize our technology for what it’s made to do, it’s already advanced, it’s already got more uses than we are aware of, it’s just, we haven’t discovered those limits.
Limits that need to be put to the test, limits that could change the face of gaming if discovered and used correctly for once.
Games like Heavy Rain master technology and use it well too, but even Heavy Rain is just a stepping stone for what gaming strives to become.
The Verdict:
- The world needs more games like Skyrim that push the boundaries of gaming, resulting in developers creating better games.
- Games like Diablo are great and worth playing but need to use the technology in the cut scenes more to create a more dynamic experience.
- Today’s technology is vastly underrated and underestimated.
- Games are getting better but are far from what they could be with the right attention and detail.
- Developers need to take more risks and actually come up with some more creative, more complex stories. #Diablo #3 #Skyrim #Todd #Howard #Game #Development #Video #Games #Console #Games #Computer #Games #RPG's #Technology #Future #Tech #Hi-Tech #Bethesda #Softworks #Blizzard #Entertainment #Sony #Microsoft #Machinima #Gamestop #IGN #Rev3 #Games #BuzzFeed #Gamasutra #DTOID #Game #On #Game #Informer #Playstation #Magazine #Techzilla #Gaming #Community #Online #Gaming #Elder #Scrolls #V #Playstation #3
