Songwriting Q&A with Tony James Where do you get the inspiration for you lyrics?
It takes a lot to be able to write a song with meaning behind it, so what I tend to do is write from my heart and only sing lyrics I believe need to be sung. Whether it’s related to how I feel at the time or simply a message I want others to get, I try my best to say things in my songs that help people but tell a story too. I admit sometimes the meaning in my songs runs a little deep but there’s a reason I do that, it’s because without a good meaning no song can truly inspire you.
How do you know when the song you have written is worth singing?
All songs serve a purpose, you just have to find that purpose and work with it to build your song into something unique. Once you can honestly say your song has a meaning to you, then I tell you now it’s bound to have meaning to someone else, they might not even be someone you know.
How do think you compare to other singer/songwriters?
They are my inspiration, my drive to write what I write, without them I would not be the singer or writer I am today. Lyrics by bands like Evanescence and Paramore have really motivated me to write good songs, they are just two of the many bands who inspire me with their music. Even Skylar Grey and Demi Lovato have done music that got to my heart. That’s what I believe all music should do, it has to come from the heart.
How do you inspire someone?
Be who you are and be confident with who you are, that way people can get to know you for who you are, that way people will want to learn from you. If they want to learn from you, then you’ll inspire them in no time at all. #music #songwriting #inspiration #Demi #Lovato #Evanescence #Skylar #Grey #paramore #TalesofMiseryandMayhem #motivation #meaning #passion #Q&A #artists #on #tumblr #musicians

The Girl with The Butterfly Tattoo by Tony James Long ago, before I was born legend tells that I was meant to have had a sister however, before her face could see the light of day fate took it’s tole and she was never even born with me soon becoming her replacement and very slowly becoming aware of something very strange indeed. I begun to wonder who she would have been, what it would have been like if she was alive and how nice it would have been to grow up with a sister like her. I begun to question myself, thinking about who I was as well as who I was meant to be, not realizing what was staring me right in the face.  I lived through bullying (by not only students but teachers too), I survived pain on unimaginable levels, countless numbers of life risking surgeries, various things I want to forget but can’t, emotional distress and even stuff that would drive others off the edge of insanity, all because of something I had not thought to be possible before, what if my sister was me and what if I was living the life she didn’t. It was hard to believe at first but eventually I realized how true it was. Things begun to make more sense, she had become a part of me… and she was anything but gone. I had dreams about her, she bled her way into my artwork, even her emotions begun to leak through as mine. Almost like she was guiding me though life, raising my awareness to signs others simply didn’t see. It started with butterflies and even now everywhere I go, they go too. Whether it was a tattoo, a painting, a drawing, a book I just happened to read or a song I just happened to write, my actions were hers and if it wasn’t for her I would not be the man I am today.
Known by me as The Girl with The Butterfly Tattoo, she would soon represent my inner feelings, the tears I wanted to cry but couldn’t, the part of me only very few people ever see, my creative side and even my dark side. My thoughts were her thoughts and her thoughts were mine. That was why she died, it was so I could live. In doing so she became a part of who I am as a man, part of the inspiration I aim to give others and part of all the creativity I so cleverly use.             #Butterfly #Tattoo #True #Story #life #TalesofMiseryandMayhem #beliefs #dreams #creativity #suffuring #depression #truth

An End To The Dark Days by Tony James March on forward upon your stallion
and raise your sword for your battalion.
Carry on with your torch a blaze
and let it lead it guide you through your darkest days,
With your spirit strong and your bravery shown
it won’t be long before all light is known.

My pain has gone, my wounds are healed,
I beg my pardon and hold my shield.
They night is done, what’s black is white.
The path is set to put things right.
What’s done in the dark will be brought to the light.
What most can’t see is in plain sight.

An End to The Dark Days swiftly comes.
May we march on forward to the sound of drums.
May We Change the World Forever.
