The Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion is a moisturiser-cum-toner produced by Japanese brand Hada Labo Skincare (肌研), which is owned by the Japanese pharmaceutical company, Rohto Pharmaceuticals. The philosophy of the brand is “Perfect x Simple”, which I really like.
What is so special about it? The product claims to contain “Super Hyaluronic Acid”. 1g of this acid is able to lock in 12 litres of water. It is sold every two seconds in Japan, and the brand has an ever-growing sales record in the whole of East Asia (in China, Taiwan, Korea and Singapore).
There are three versions of this moisturising lotion: Blue is for whitening, Red is for Firming and White is for Moisturising.
My verdict:
The product lasted me 9 months of daily usage. Considering what it can do, how much it costs and how little you need to use it, this is a great buy!!! I only need two or three drops per usage. As a day cream, it normally lasts me throughout the day. But when evening comes and if I don’t get home in time, my skin starts to dry up again, so their claim about locking in 12 litres of water (is there really more than 12 litres of water in my face??) is a bit lost on me.
For a man with VERY sensitive skin, I have a horribly flaky T-zone and I dry up easily around my eyebrows and my nose. Using this product has helped me to keep the flaking at bay, at least throughout the day. I also like the fact that it does not contain any colouring, fragrance or mineral oils, which in the past have seriously worsened my skin condition.
It is also very convenient that it is called a ‘lotion’, as noted by other bloggers, so it is a cream and a toner rolled into one. You do not have to apply toner after your daily cleansing routine. And I prefer this to a cream, it is seriously NOT oily (more liquidy) and it is not shiny (something which I really hate). It does help to keep my skin youthful-looking and supple, which is always a big plus in a moisturiser.
My conclusion:
Go get it!! It is not a miracle moisturiser like what they say (still not convinced about the 12 litres of water bit), but it works well. I do not use it as a night cream, because I think I need something creamier to nourish my skin at night, and this product does not do that.
